Looks like the lost re-release of the iconic GoldenEye 007 will be out any day now

GoldenEye 007 for Nintendo 64 has an important place in video game history: it came out in 1997 and was a breakthrough for console shooters (and for the entire genre, too).
A few years later, a strange story happened: in 2007 they made a major re-release of GoldenEye 007 for the Xbox 360, but it could not be released because of problems with the rights holders.
It seems that Microsoft managed to solve the legal issues and the remake will be officially released.
In recent months around the GoldenEye 007 began to notice some suspicious activity: pictures of achievements resurfaced in the web, and the employees of Rare began to receive \"achivkas\" from the re-release.
Achievements from the GoldenEye 007 re-release have now appeared in the public domain: they can be viewed on the official Xbox website.
That means GoldenEye 007 is very close to launch.
So, the formal announcement (and, most likely, release) should take place very soon.
How about June 12 at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase summer showcase? Note that the GoldenEye 007 re-release for Xbox 360 was leaking to the Web in 2021.
The project was created as something between a remaster and a remake: the graphics were noticeably better, but the gameplay, level design and enemy layout were exactly the same as the original - right down to the fact that the old look can be returned at the touch of a button.
The re-release will probably appear in the same form on modern platforms.Read also February 1, 2021, 16:06 ⋅ 10 Full video walkthrough of the canceled GoldenEye 007 remake for Xbox 360

Metal Gear Rising has multiplied online - it seems that it's all about memes

Home / NewsYesterday 54 11K Share Metal Gear Rising has multiplied online - it seems that it's all about memes Gennady VorobievThe Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance game has no obvious reason for high online: it is nine years old, there is no multiplayer, and the average playthrough is about seven hours.
But online has grown in recent weeks anyway.
And it seems that we have memes to thank for this. The situation around MGR attracted the attention of the PlayTracker platform - it collects activity from different platforms in one place.
PlayTracker writes the following:The number of concurrent players in MGR is up 1,000% over the full month average in April 2021.The rapid growth in online began in January 2022.MGR has the highest achievement activity on all platforms since 2018.
Online claims can be double-checked on SteamDB - there is indeed an increase in the number of players over the past six months.
The last discount for MGR was in January 2022, and the surge was in February, March, and April.
In general, the increased activity is clearly not related to the sales. As PlayTracker believes, people have once again paid attention to MGR because of the memes - the game is indeed popular among online sharers.
The thesis is confirmed by Google Trends data: for example, in recent months the requests for Metal Gear Rising and Jetstream Sam have had the highest activity since January 2015.
There are a number of famous memes associated with MGR: for example, Senator Armstrong saying Nanomachines, son!; the characters Sandowner and Jetstream Sam with their specific smirks; the song Rules of Nature, which is superimposed over epic (and not so epic) moments from movies, anime, life, and other things.
It remains to be seen why the interest in MGR memes increased in 2022.
The game proved its memetic nature a few years ago, closer to the release: an article in the online encyclopedia Know Your Meme, dedicated to MGR, appeared in 2015.Anyway, our comments for Metal Gear Rising memes are open.
Feel free to do so!

Sony didn't stop Metal Gear Solid 4 from coming to Xbox 360, says Kojima colleague

Metal Gear Solid has a very close connection to PlayStation, but most games in the main series are not exclusives after all: they dropped by on both PC and Xbox.
The notable exception is one - MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, which was only released on PlayStation 3 and has not even received a re-release on the new generations. There is a popular version that this happened because of an exclusivity deal with Sony, but fresh information states - there was no such deal, from a legal standpoint, Guns of the Patriots nothing prevented the release on Xbox 360.
That's according to Ryan Payton - he served as assistant producer in the production of MGS4.Payton shared his memories as part of The Ultimate History of Video Games, Volume 2 by Steven L.
Kent.
To quote an excerpt:The prevailing belief in the industry was that Sony had probably made an exclusivity deal with [Metal Gear Solid 4].
It didn't.
If Kojima had wanted to port the game to the Xbox 360, his bosses probably would have approved it, but he wasn't willing to do that.Guns of the Patriots was limited by media: the PS3 had Blu-ray discs with about 50 gigabytes of data, while the Xbox 360 read two-layer DVDs at most (about 7 gigabytes).
In addition, MGS4 required a partial installation on a hard drive, and the Xbox 360 had models without a drive at all. That the archives MGS4 too puffy for Microsoft's console, said himself Hideo Kojima (Hideo Kojima).
Apparently, this is the key reason why the game didn't come out on the Xbox 360 - without any intrigue in the form of lifetime deals with Sony. But then why did Guns of the Patriots remain a PS3 exclusive and not appear on new generations of devices or PC? There's no definitive answer here.
The owners of the series from Konami seem to be about to breathe another life into Metal Gear Solid and are preparing a remake of Snake Eater.
Maybe about MGS4 will be remembered!

It seems that the nuclear disarmament in Metal Gear Solid V is impossible

Hideo Kojima has hidden a secret ending in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which requires the destruction of all nuclear warheads.
Recall that in Metal Gear Solid V online mode, you can create nuclear weapons, and other players have the power to penetrate your base and steal or destroy its stock.
Thus, gamers had to cooperate in order to completely eliminate nuclear weapons and get a well-deserved reward.
Achieving this honestly has been impossible for years.YouTube channel DidYouKnowGaming? investigated and found out that the game puts sticks in the wheels and makes disarming impossible.
No matter how hard gamers tried, a small number of warheads were still left in the world.
There was no way to disarm them, since they didn't belong to any base-these cases were nicknamed \"Ghost Bombs.
Enthusiasts who discovered this flaw attempted to contact Konami to have the bug fixed.
However, the studio has long ignored the bug.
This is probably due to the third chapter of Peace, the mention of which was noticed in the game's files.
Users believe that Nuclear Disarmament was just supposed to unlock a new set of missions.
Moreover, in 2015, the official Konami Twitter account hinted at it: \"The truth can be found in the world.\" However, the studio had a huge fight with MGS creator Hideo Kojima, so the content for the third chapter may not exist at all.
Consequently, Konami can not allow the number of nuclear weapons has dropped to zero.Recall that the fifth Metal Gear Solid will be deprived of the online component on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 31.
PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions are safe for now.

Left 4 Dead might not have zombies - Gabe Newell thought they were too stupid

Left 4 Dead might not have zombies - Gabe Newell thought they were too stupid

Former Valve writer Chet Faliszek appeared on the Kiwi Talkz podcast and talked about his games.
Falizek reveals a curious detail: it turns out that Gabe Newell suggested not making zombies in Left 4 Dead, because he thought that kind of opponents was stupid. To quote Falizek:I was having lunch with Gabe one day, and he kept asking: \"If you look at zombie movies, you see that Night of the Living Dead is about racism, Dawn of the Dead is about consumerism.
They were deliberately made about something to talk about.
What's your movie, your game, your zombie plot about?\" I answered, \"It's about teamwork.
It's the game itself, a reflection of the game.
What are we going to do in a zombie apocalypse? \"But Gabe kept insisting, \"Let's not do zombies.
Zombies are just stupid.\" Back then, there were no Walking Dead or anything like that, so zombies were really considered really stupid.
But as a kid I watched Dawn of the Dead at night, and I didn't think it was stupid - only later did I realize that those scenes were so bad that they were even good.Eventually I thought: why not make some characters in the game world realize that they were, roughly speaking, in a zombie movie situation.
For example, Zoe and Luis realize that \"it's like those movies,\" but take it seriously.
\u003C...> Because of this there is a different feeling, which I think avoids being silly.> Gabe seemed to like this approach, and didn't push it any further.
Falijek tells us that he also used the \"characters take silly setting seriously\" principle in his latest game, The Anacrusis.
It's another Left 4 Dead-inspired co-op, but in the style of 1960s sci-fi and against aliens.Earlier on the Kiwi Talkz podcast another famous Valve employee came: he dreamily sighing that he would like to work on Portal 3.

Ubisoft has disabled online services for 90 games (but the list is made after its sleeves)

Ubisoft has made an addition to the graveyard of online services: the company has published an article on its support site, where it confirmed the disabling of network components in 90 games.
It seems that the article was written after its sleeves: there are both projects, which shutdown was already announced several years ago, and games that are physically unavailable. The information seems fresh: Ubisoft employees have posted it as new material, created on April 22, 2022.
But there are a bunch of piquant points there:Some of the online services should have been shut down a long time ago.
For example, back in 2017 Ubisoft announced the closure of online components in Flashback Origins for PC and Splinter Cell: Blacklist for Wii U, and now it has \"closed\" them again. Some online services are disabled on the OnLive platform.
It is a streaming service similar to today's PlayStation Now and Stadia.
OnLive was launched in 2010, began to go under in 2012, and in 2015 it closed for good.
And there it is simple: no streaming, no games.
If you take the material from Ubisoft at face value, it turns out that the company for some reason supported online on a platform that is physically unavailable for seven years. As writes VGC, some games in the list have no network components at all.
For example, Rainbow Six Lockdown for the GameCube.
How it ended up on the list is a mystery! Ubisoft considers not only multiplayer components, but also, say, challenges and mini-additions, which can be obtained through Ubisoft Connect (or Uplay) as network components.
The mini-additions will remain available on consoles if you do not delete the save with open content, but on PC there is no such feature - there additions through Ubisoft Connect disappear altogether.
